Pikeville, KY — Two Pikeville residents have been arrested and face shoplifting charges. According to arrest citations, 38- year-old Valorie Hunt was observed by Wal-Mart loss prevention associates concealing items inside a backpack that she had picked up inside the store. Valorie Hunt along with 42-year-old Chadwick Hunt then removed the tags from the items and exited the store with no attempt to pay for the items. The items, valued at $156.05, was returned at the time of the theft undamaged and unopened. According to the officers, Valorie Hunt appeared to be under the influence, unable to sit still and had slurred speech. Valorie Hunt was charged with public intoxication of controlled substance and Theft by unlawful taking, Shoplifting under $500.00. Chadwick Hunt was charged with Theft by unlawful taking, Shoplifting under $500.00. Both were lodged in the Pike County Detention Center.
